Senator Wakili Buried

The remains of Senator Ali Wakil, a Nigerian senator representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, has been buried at Gudu cemetery in Abuja, hours after his death was announced.

The late senator was buried around 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 17, after Islamic rites were performed on his remains at the National Mosque. The 58-year-old senator reportedly occurred around 9.00 a.m. at his Gwarimpa residence in Abuja.

Prior to his death the Bauchi senator was not physically ill. He was said to be preparing to leave for a wedding in Yola when he suddenly slumped and was pronounced dead on the spot.

Those present at the former Customs officer’s burial included Senate President, Bukola Saraki; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State; Senator Wamakko (Sokoto, APC); Senate Majority Leader, Ahmed Lawan and Bauchi State governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar.

He is survived by two wives, sons and daughters.
