FG inaugurates presidential committee on flood control

In order to find a permanent solution to the almost perennial flooding that ravages most states of the country, the Federal Government has set up a standing committee to work out the modalities.

The name of the committee is the Presidential Committee for the Development of a Comprehensive Plan of Action for Preventing Flood Disasters in Nigeria.

Sambo

The body, which was recently inaugurated by the Minister of Water Resources Engr. Suleiman Hussien Adamu, had Engr. Mu’azu Jaji Sambo, Minister of Transportation, in attendance.

The event, held at the Banquet Hall, State House, Abuja, witnessed the presence of Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, the Deputy Governor of Anambra State; Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, HajiaSadiya Umar Farouq; and Minister of the Environment, Barr. Mohammed H. Abdullahi.

Others present were the ministers of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire and Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Mohammad Abubakar.
