League hosts Sambo, Adegoroye to farewell dinner

For contributing to the growth of the maritime sector, the League of Maritime Editors (LME) is to host the Minister of Transportation, Hon. Mu’azu Jaji Sambo and his Minister of State counterpart, Mr. Ademola Adegoroye, to a farewell dinner.

According to LME, the honour for the two ministers was in appreciation of their hard work and landmark achievements within a short space of their stay in the Transport Ministry.

In a press statement signed by the President and Public Relations Officer (PRO), Chief Timothy Paul Okorocha and Mr Francis Ugwoke respectively, the group announced the event as holding on June 9, 2023, at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, by 7:00pm.

The statement made it clear that the “Appreciation Dinner” which would be strictly on invitation, would be chaired by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr Boss Mustapha.

According to the statement, “the two ministers are being honoured in recognition of their glaring efforts to move the industry forward since they were appointed.

“Sambo focused on projects that will move the nation’s maritime industry forward.

“Among the projects were ports infrastructure rehabilitation, indigenous shipping development under which he got the President to approve the disbursement of the Cabotage Vessel Financing Fund (CVFF), the process which has since started.

“Sambo had on assuming office also promoted human-capacity development both in the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) and Maritime Academy Nigeria (MAN), Oron”.

The statement added, “On assuming office, he moved to ensure ports’ efficiency and interconnectivity of agencies through the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) by establishing port community system under a single platform. He will be remembered for achieving so much for the industry after spending less than 10 months in office”

The organisers stated that the governors of Lagos, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Taraba, Darius Dickson Ishaku and Ondo, Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, would be expected to grace the occasion.

“The Emir of Muri in Taraba State, Alhaji Abbas Njidda Tafida and the Deji of Akure in Ondo State, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Odundun II and captains of the maritime industry will also be expected on the occasion”, the statement added.
